Hi all,
I really do apologize for the lag  in my 'so called' weekly blog. Matric is really starting to creep up on the grade 12’s and I, so we have all been buried in our books, aiming high for mocks.
A lot has been going on during the last couple of weeks. So you have heard, from reading the blog site, that white house has excelled in many of the inter-house sporting competitions. But this is presumed by most. It has been tough, but we have certainly built up a prestigious reputation for ourselves of dominating the sporting arrangements!
Inter-house 7’s was enjoyed by everyone. White house did very well to rise to the finals but unfortunately the two senior sides were subdued by their opponents. Both were very awesome games!
But the hero’s of the day were the Grade 8 team! With having dominated throughout the tournament, they found themselves on the piley rees against School house. This was the jaw dropping game. White house put their colours to pride when they easily triumphed over school house. A special mention will have to go to our latest grade 8 addition ‘ Ilyaas ‘ who danced around the opposition leaving the opponents with nothing but confusion. Ilyaas now has the right to name himself –Ilyass ‘quade’ Peterson

Unfortunatly Ennio and Seb could not make it to the final as they were injured.

Myself and leo(more like leonidas)

White house looks extremely promising in the years to come. The ‘gees’ of the house never disappears. We all stayed in on the Friday night to ‘unite before our battles’. We also have some big grade 8’s. My mentee ‘leo’ towers over me already. It’s pretty heart-racing when I have to tell him off!

Now that class is over, we just have mocks and finals to nail. This gives us more that enough time to prepare for our exams. So what would you do if you had a few free days and the warm CT sun available? Take a few hours and indulge the hotness in white house’s quad? Myself, Kris, Foxy and vino aka the ‘pale rhino’ thought this was a very inviting idea and attempted to become “ sun-snogged” as Kris would put it!

Tshepo joining the vibe

Tshepo even joined in. Stating that it was ‘relaxing’ and ‘just such a vibe’

Another motion of White House is the grade 11 take over. Myself and Michael Foxcroft discussed with Mr Firth about how much lead we are going to give them and when it is going to happen. We concluded that they would take over a week before mocks and would just adopt a more prominent approach to the house. This started by rotating the daily ‘knock-up’ (grace) by each grade 11. Some a bit shy and some confident enough to remix the traditional ‘ for what we have receive may the lord make us truly thankful’ to something a little more ‘fresh’
With power, comes responsibility. So the grade 11’s headed off on a leadership camp over the weekend where they bonded and were involved in various leadership activities. You certainly learn a lot about yourself and your leadership potential here as it gives you the best opportunity to exercise it! They were accompanied by Mr firth.
This just reminds me how quickly time goes. It feels like yesterday I was away with my dorm enjoying the camp! But all we have now is our mocks and finals. The path ahead doesn’t look to gray though as the school offers us lots of things to do. We still have our interhouse soccer, cross country etc.. and our Matric dance!
Anyway, I need to get back to my studying. I will get back to you with more about the house when I can.

I hope you are all well!

Mike'S Message 5th August

 Howzit guys,

All I can think about last week is the cold showers. Myself and a few other boys found us having bone-chilling showers instead of walking across to the other house’s in search for warm water. Everyone is relieved; especially the senior rugby players who return from practice later than most, now to find warm showers waiting for us. Otherwise all the boys seem to be happy and all is well.

If any of you were unfortunate no to make it to ‘Bishops Classic Pops’, then you really did miss a breathtaking show. I would just like to say congratulations to Jaydon Farao for an excellent singing performance! Also well done to Tim Jankovich-Besan and Mukumba Chiti who were involved with the AV crew and backstage respectively. So good to see two lads sacrificing their time and energy for the school, outside of the House. Tim has been particularly busy with AV this term- he really has a huge amount of energy for such a little bloke! Well done.

Good-luck to Kabelo Gcabashe who left for ‘Master Harold And The Boys’ tour to Edinburgh, Scotland.

Also good-luck to all the boys that are travelling up on rugby tour to St Andrews, Grahmstown. The teams that are going are u14,15,16 A, Second xv and the First XV. No mercy!

That’s all for now! I hope you all have a relaxing and productive long weekend. Stay safe.

First Week Back

Hi everyone,

I hope you all enjoyed the break. It’s good to be back!

We have just completed the first week of the third term. This is my favorite stretch of the year due to the stress of eisteddfod and exams behind us, and the exciting upcoming events such as POPS, Inter-House 7’s etc. Lets not forget about Round 2 against Bosch as well.

White house has quickly filled with rapturous smiles and exciting stories of the boys adventurous holidays.

Everyone seems happy and have all settled in. The grade 10 dorm seems the happiest. I was walking through the quad and found myself listening to the grade 10's singing 'a thousand miles' by Vanessa Carlton!

I am happy to say that most of the boys have returned well groomed and with tidy uniform. A good start!

This term we are going to be focusing on keeping the house clean, but mainly the dorms. Cubicles in the dorms can quickly get out of hand with sweet wrappers on the floor, clothes everywhere and just general clutter. The leaders will keep their eye on this and will be focusing on maintaining a tidy house throughout the term.

That’s it from me this week.
Keep well,
Mike

Summing Up The Situation

Hi all,

Just to let you know that I will now be writing a weekly entry to keep you informed of what has been happening in White House during the week.

Well I'm sure all the boys would agree with me that after this term, all we have left to say is "phew". It has been a fatiguing and strenuous term for each boy due to the time consuming exams and the blast of Eistedfod.

After such a huge demand on us for exams we were drained but switched on the reserve tanks and excelled in various aspects of the Eistedfod. Thanks to many of our talented speakers in White House, we managed to place 4th in the speech category. We did pretty well in the drama category too! But all this information can be found on the College Website or this link : http://college.bishops.org.za/eisteddfod/overallresults.asp

After a considerable amount of singing practice, White House seemed well prepared for the big night and sounded the best it had in years! We all have Stratos Samaras, Andrew Earl and Kabelo Gcabashe to thank for their help, but mainly Stratos who was passionately involved from the start.

I would like to say farewell and good luck to Carl Alakidja who is leaving to study in England. Carl has always been a pleasure to have around and will be sincerely missed by the house and especially his dorm-mates.

Good luck to Michael Foxcroft and Mahatma Ulimwengu who both are on Himalaya duty this holiday.
Also, good luck to Tshepo Motale and James Drummond who will both be representing Western Province for rugby and hockey respectively.

Please use this time to get uniform organised! ie : Top buttons(excuses such as " but i'm so huge, my top button wont go in" will not be tolerated any more! buy a bigger shirt!), blazer buttons, ripped pants etc..

Don King
HAIR HAIR HAIR! - long hair or any Don King wannabe's will not be tolerated and boys will receive Saturday detentions and will not be allowed to attend school until it is cut.

I haven't been there for White house as much as I would have liked to have been this past term but everyone will certainly see more of me next term!

White house boys and parents, I wish you an awesome holiday. Keep well and see you next term!
